Digitising for Growth

Project Background

SRT Logistics identified that they needed to update their IT platform to support their five-year growth strategy. In response, The Project Lab developed a technology platform and operational capability model to safeguard risk and establish a solid foundation for SRT’s growth and operations.

Challenge

Knowing that their existing digital systems did not fit their business requirements, SRT Logistics needed to establish an IT platform that would support them to:

  • Integrate with their partners and customers.
  • Access real-time information.
  • Communicate with their key customers and enable ease of reference for bookings.
  • Future-proof their organisation to be efficient, reactive and responsive.

Approach

The Project Lab first worked with SRT Logistics to understand the depth and complexity of their organisation and their growth strategy. With this knowledge, the team developed the architecture and roadmap required to build a scalable IT platform and defined the scope of a target operating model. Our support continued into implementation and staff recruitment.

Solutions

Our engagement consisted of:

  • Discovery workshops to develop a high-level strategy to support desired outcomes.
  • Outlining a system replacement roadmap.
  • Producing a target operating model to clarify and support future direction.
  • Refreshing the organisation structure to identify new roles.
  • Creating a RASCI matrix to outline roles and responsibilities.
  • Recruitment of people into implementation roles.
  • Providing a high-level plan of enterprise architecture and project management based on the lifecycle of delivery.
  • Developing a governance framework to support delivery of the plan.

Project Results

The Project Lab created a solution that supported SRT Logistics to achieve their goals:

  • Ensuring growth with a tailored IT platform.
  • Outlining a roadmap to expand capabilities for the future.
  • Recruiting personnel qualified to lead implementation.

About The Project Lab

The Project Lab delivers impactful engagements and partners with organisations and stakeholders in five target sectors. Our sectors combine industries in a traditional sector with a “this is how we do it here” approach, bringing a uniquely Tasmanian perspective to the way we can approach challenges and opportunities individually or together.

MPPT Sector

Manufacturing, Primary Production and Transport

With Tasmania’s ambitious target of tripling exports by 2050, we’re motivated to work with organisations that will realise this goal. Manufacturing, primary production and transport companies intrinsically work together to unlock the potential of our island, supplying products to a diverse range of local, national and international markets.
