Position Description

As People & Culture Coordinator, you support the people functions and capability of The Project Lab, ensuring we recruit the right people at the right time, that our people are supported, set up for success, work safely, and live our values. This role is key to the success of our biggest asset – our people!

With direction and support from the Head of People & Culture, you will act as the first point of contact for all people related matters, supporting the experience of all Project Lab team members.

Through the delivery of day-to-day services and operations of the People & Culture division, you will support our team achieving our purpose – to make Tasmania the most liveable island in the world!

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive planning and management of end-to-end recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate team orientation and onboarding.
  • Assist with employee relations in consultation with Head of People & Culture.
  • Maintain People & Culture communication channels and information systems.
  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with team members, sector teams, stakeholders, and client groups.
  • Assist the implementation of culture and engagement initiatives, including the facilitation and planning of team events or activities.
  • Contribute to people-related projects and activities across the employee life cycle, including Workers Compensation and Return to Work Programs, the interface with Payroll and award interpretation.
  • Continually improve procedures and policies to improve efficiency of the People & Culture Team and the broader The Project Lab team.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of WHS procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations.
  • Monitor compliance of applicable state and federal regulations and laws for employment, aligning policies and/or procedures and contracts of employment as required, escalating to the Head of People & Culture where a breach in compliance occurs or is likely to occur.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Training and Development and Performance Management Frameworks.
  • Facilitate day to day activities to promote a positive workplace culture and support diversity.
  • Escalate any issues or challenges to the Head of People & Culture where outcomes or people may be at risk in a timely manner.
  • Regularly seek to improve your working knowledge relating to People & Culture matters through learning activities such as courses and events.

Skills and experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (highly desirable)
  • At least 1-2 years' experience working in a multi-disciplinary HR team in complex and fast-paced operational environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in talent acquisition and onboarding.
  • A passion for personal growth and desire to promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Knowledge of HR and WHS procedures and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A resourceful, problem-solving attitude with a track record of following through on commitments.
  • A values-based approach with the ability to make sound evidence-based decisions.
  • Developing analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Good technical IT skills.
  • Embrace change with flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.

Position Reports to: Head of People & Culture

Direct Reports:  N/A

Location: Launceston or Hobart

Payment Cycle: Fortnightly

Hours: Permanent, full-time (37.5hrs per week). Generally, between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Flexible working hours and days available.
