Position description:

As a Project Manager you are responsible for managing projects that meet client outcomes and expectations. This role falls under the direction of Lead Consultant- Project and Change Management, and works closely with our Delivery team, staff and consultants to ensure our services are client focused and create real value.

As a Project Manager you have demonstrated passion, knowledge and experience bringing positive change to businesses. You have experience working within large organisations to deliver change across the full project lifecycle. You have a proven track record of championing and driving projects, delivering IT and business change and working with operational teams to embed new services in the live environment.

You are known for your strong stakeholder management experience and can negotiate resources and prioritise requirements with both internal IT teams and the wider organisation. You are a natural communicator and can communicate across a diverse audience.  

As a Project Manager you effectively prioritise workloads across multiple projects and have the ability to organise time and resources effectively; creating detailed work schedules, and prioritising the activities needed to drive the project forward.

You are a critical thinker with a natural desire to build relationships, understand and solve problems, and articulate a compelling argument. You have excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. You understand customer needs and how our services can fulfil those needs. You have a strong commercial mindset and will use this to ensure that our approach to customers continually improves to deliver more value for our clients.

You are highly competent, comfortable working autonomously and may have experience working with dynamic and cross-disciplinary teams. You can think on your feet, know when and how to escalate a problem, and don't shy away from challenging situations. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of multiple technical projects including project team management to processes and governance to ensure successful delivery of projects in terms of time, cost, quality, benefits, business readiness and transition into BAU
  • Develop relationships with project Sponsors to agree on project deliverables and scope, project timings, budget, expected benefits, reporting mechanisms and escalation of risks and issues
  • Build and manage project teams including developing team members, managing conflict, and addressing issues of personal performance to support the delivery of a successful project
  • Lead project teams in the execution of all project activities including team set-up, budgeting, development of project approach and managing deliverables
  • Utilise relevant quality assurance tools including risk and issue registers, dependency logs, lessons learned reports, stakeholder communication plans, project plans and status reports throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Build strong relationships and trust with clients with a goal for repeat business through an exceptional customer experience
  • Mentor and guide other delivery team members, ensuring learning and development opportunities are shared with fellow consultants
  • Identify opportunities where potential value can be added to clients through The Project Lab
  • Work autonomously, as part of a team, or lead teams in dynamic project environments often undertaking multiple engagements simultaneously whilst delivering agreed outcomes with a high level of quality and passion
  • Lead the initiation, influencing and maintaining of relationships with team members, other project teams, stakeholders and client groups to develop and maintain effective working relationships

Skills and experience:

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in project management, operations management or business or management consulting, or a related field
  • Prince2, Agile PM, APMP, or any other equivalent project management qualifications
  • High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to lead, motivate and inspire a matrix team of project and operational professionals
  • Experience in project governance, including relationship management with sponsors and influencers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders with competing deadlines and priorities with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience creating and effectively managing project plans, alongside risks and issues
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills - to manage own time, work effectively with minimum supervision and plan the work of a project team
  • Experience managing external consultants/suppliers to understand statement of works (SoW) and/or call-off frameworks
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in leading and working with high performing teams
  • Experience working with external stakeholders to understand and investigate feedback into the service, function or product provided and influence them to determine acceptable solutions
  • High emotional intelligence and experience in engaging and negotiating at multiple levels to influence, listen and understand
  • Exceptional analytical, critical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to identify potential market needs and opportunities in line with The Project Lab's vision and strategy
