If so, come and Make it Matter with us at The Project Lab. We are looking for an experienced Finance Professional to manage our finance function in our Launceston or Hobart office.   

About the role 

At The Project Lab, we're passionate about making Tasmania the world's most liveable island; our team is full of people working hard to achieve this. As a Finance Lead in our team, you’ll be responsible for managing financial activities across our business.   

You’ll lead The Project Lab’s key reoccurring financial accounting, including Accounts Receivable, Payable, Inventory, BAS lodgement and ATO compliance. Your role in our team will be critical to The Project Lab meeting internal reporting and statutory compliance obligations.  

As a business, we offer a range of products and services to our clients, and we are continuously improving and expanding our offerings. To support this function and the financial efficiency of our operations, you will capture critical data that offers insight and foresight into systems utilization, service catalogue performance, viability and commercialization of new products and services, operational performance and efficiency and financial performance and opportunities. 

Reporting to our CEO, you will work closely with our senior leadership team to ensure financial objectives are being met, contribute to the continual improvement and refinement of our financial systems and support our service delivery function in a consulting capacity as needed.

About you

  • 3-7 years of experience in a finance management or analysis role with strong business, commercial acumen and strategic thinking capabilities. A bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Management or similar. (CPA or CA is desirable)
  • Experience working autonomously and have developed financial models, forecasts and budgets. You’ve successfully managed and improved the financial maturity and operational systems of a business.
  • You’ve established effective methods of ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in working with sensitive and critical data.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to actively listen and adjust your own behaviour to build relationships and provide quality customer service to team members and clients.  
  • Experience undertaking multiple projects simultaneously whilst ensuring appropriate reporting/escalation, excellent engagement and delivery of agreed results.  
  • You can anticipate and embrace change by remaining openminded and agile in times of ambiguity or shifting business priorities.    
  • Strong computer skills and experience using various accounting and data manipulation software systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, Xero (or similar), Project Works.
