Copywriter

Position Description

As a Copywriter, you are responsible for the development of marketing messaging across The Project Lab’s public platforms, including the website, social media platforms and membership. This role falls under the direction of the Head of the Service Delivery Group or as otherwise delegated based on the requirements of the business.  

As Copywriter you are relied upon for the generation of content across the business as required. You will understand and execute all work in the Project Lab brand voice, embedding the spirt of the organisation through every piece of content you write. This includes the ideation and creation of blog posts, case studies, newsletters, social media posts, internal communications and other content as required. This role works closely and collaborates with other team members to ensure work is completed in a timely effective manner.  

You are competent in taking ideas and descriptions and bringing them to life through your writing style. You understand the need to tailor content to different audiences and have the ability to engage people no matter the topic.  

You are competent and comfortable working autonomously with demonstrated experience working with dynamic and cross-disciplinary teams. You are able to think on your feet, know when and how to escalate a problem, and don’t shy away from challenging situations. You demonstrate strong people skills actively listen, encourage others, convey reliable facts and build rapport in difficult situations to achieve the vision.  

Your passion and drive for exceptional content quality stands out, as does your ability to consistently exceed engagement expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key point of contact for copywriting needs within the business.  
  • Creating written content for the Project Lab website, including the creation of content such as insights, articles, case studies and team profiles.  
  • Writing social media posts for use across our social platforms.
  • Writing newsletters for both internal and external audiences, maintaining or adapting the brand voice where required to fit the brief.  
  • Work autonomously, as part of a team, and following the direction of the brand strategy.  
  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with team members, other project teams, stakeholders to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Support the teams across the business (e.g. Sales, Service Delivery, People) by providing specialist knowledge and advice in your practice area when required.
  • Escalate any issues or challenges relating to an engagement where outcomes may be at risk.

Skills and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Journalism, Marketing, Multimedia or similar.  
  • A minimum of 2 years’ quality copy writing experience.
  • A detail orientated person with an eye for spelling and grammar details.  
  • Clear and concise writing style, that is adaptable across applications and audiences.  
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a branded tone of voice.
  • Demonstrated ability to write across various topic domains and be diverse in your writing capabilities.  
  • Highly organised self-starter able to work to a content schedule and critical deadlines with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities all while delivering to the required quality.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in facilitating communication, developing meaningful relationships and rapport and negotiate and persuade to achieve the required outcomes. 
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment, but the willingness to work autonomously.
  • Embracing change with flexibility to work in a dynamic environment. 
  • A track record of following through on commitments.

Engagement type:

Casual or Subcontractor, with the opportunity to move to Permanent Part or Full-time in future.  

Can be located in Hobart, Launceston or remote within Australia
